Who Am I: from Calabria with Amore…

Hi, my name is Ginella and Maiolica Weddings is the outcome of my dreams.

Born in Calabria, in Tropea, I have the South running through my veins, but my nature led me to live in different regions of Italy, allowing me to fully understand and appreciate the splendour of the entire territory of our peninsula.

I grew up breathing the sun and sea, looking at the island of Stromboli from the window, in a family made up mainly of women who passed on to me a deep love for my land and its traditions. Among the singing of crickets and cicadas, I grew up with the sweetness of a grandmother who loved creating wonderful flower gardens and who knew how to transform whatever her garden offered into goodness; a mother who taught me to live my culture as an infinite wealth, nourishing me with curiosity and transferring to me the love for beauty and the importance of the connection with one’s roots and traditions. It is thanks to them that I learned to see the romance that can be found even in the smallest detail and that caring for people is hidden even, and above all, in the simplest of gestures.

I still remember the preparation before each special day, the enveloping aroma of mocha and freshly baked desserts that guided me home when something important was in store. I recall the scent of jasmine in the air that made the moment unforgettable as expert and gentle hands meticulously set the table with the best dinnerware for the guests. That’s how, with simple but very meaningful gestures, I learned the art of welcoming and hospitality. The passion for a job that chose me emerged even before I chose it, as did the love and talent for everything that can contribute to making an event special and perfect.

My origins and innate passions, linked to a multifaceted and insatiable curiosity, a dynamic and cheerful character and an artistic/musical propensity, soon led me to leave Calabria. I have always been fascinated by everything related to travel, food, literature, art and craftsmanship. Above all, I love discovering and learning about the history of the people and places I come across. I love to find similarities among various cultures and customs, even when they seem very distant from each other, highlighting their most characterising aspects.

It was during my university years that I began to deal directly and professionally with the organisation of events, firstly working as a hostess for large agencies and later managing events. In the meantime, I worked in the catering and wine sector and also in the music sector. I managed to nourish my deepest passions and acquire knowledge and experience in order to handle the complex machine of event organisation from every point of view.

Over the years I have never stopped pursuing my dream, training and collaborating with numerous experts in the sector and creating important professional relationships based on trust and esteem with suppliers throughout Italy.

Creativity, research, enthusiasm, empathy, attention to detail and profound knowledge of the territory and its distinctiveness are the ingredients for realising my stylistic projects. But most of all, what moves me to create special weddings full of overflowing feelings is LOVE.

I am an incurable romantic.

I love to pick wildflowers and among flowers I fell happy. I believe in the importance of a “welcome”, in the power of a smile when opening a door and in the act of love that hides behind any gesture of hospitality and attention.

I have always been in love with music and singing, I have worked in the musical field and have had important experiences in the artistic sector. I believe every moment has its perfect soundtrack; if it has a vintage touch, so much the better. I have an innate desire to find the right rhythm to accompany any emotion and every memory.

The love for cooking and good eating are among my greatest passions. I love feeling and experiencing food, getting lost in markets, smelling the scented pages of cookbooks and being guided by the aromas in the alleys of a city. It is from food that I draw great inspiration. I consider experimenting and cooking for others as a gesture of love and I always look for the most diverse recipes and culinary traditions.

It is over good food that some of the most beautiful emotions can arise. The cultures of the world are narrated mainly through the flavours and sounds that accompany them. They tell us who we are and where we come from… It is my constant curiosity and natural need to discover and experience them that led me to combine all my passions in my dream job.
